CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />P~SOLUTION NO. 82-218 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION CHANGING NAME OF LO}~ ALTA PARK TO <br />FAIRLANDS PARK <br /> <br />I~HEREAS , <br /> <br />Pleasanton Meadows ttomeo~mers Association has <br />requested that the name of Loma Alta Park be <br />changed to Fairlands Park and provided the Park <br />and Recreation Commission with a petition signed <br />by over 80 Pleasanton Meadows residents supporting <br />such a name change; and <br /> <br />WltEREAS, <br /> <br />the criteria established for naming neighborhood <br />parks, as outlined in the 1966 Park and Recreation <br />Commission Facility Naming Policy, states that <br />first consideration will be given to naming a <br />neighborhood park after the neighborhood in which <br />they are located or a bordering street; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />"Fairlands" is strongly associated with the <br />Pleasanton Meadows area and Loma Alta park is <br />frequently referred to as Fairlands Park because <br />of its previous nomenclature (Fairlands Park), <br />close association with Fairlands School, its <br />location in Fairlands Tract, and close proximity <br />to Fairlands Drive; and <br /> <br />WtIEPZAS, a public hearing was held on May 19, 1982, at the <br /> regular Park and Recreation Commission meeting; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, TtlE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The name of Loma Alta Park shall be changed to <br /> Fairlands Park and the park shall be appropriately <br /> signed both on West Las Positas Drive and on <br /> Churchill Drive by the tennis courts. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED JUNE 22, 1982 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br /> <br />
