CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAIIDA COMITY, CALIFOP~IA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 82-210 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ALLOCATING $~00 FOR USE IN THE SECP~T <br />WITNESS PROGP~% <br /> <br />WHEREAS , <br /> <br />because of recent vandalism to trees in the Val <br />Vista area and an incident in which vandals <br />painted "KKK" on a black family's garage door, <br />Council desires to ascertain the identities of <br />these vandals; and <br /> <br />WtlEREAS , <br /> <br />a reward for information concerning the perpetrators <br />of these acts of vandalism may assist in bringing <br />them to justice; and <br /> <br />WttEREAS, <br /> <br />Government Code §53069.5 authorizes cities to offer <br />and pay rewards for information leading to the <br />determination of, and the apprehension of, <br />any person who willfully dareages or destroys any <br />property; and <br /> <br />V&iEPZAS, <br /> <br />the Secret Witness Prograr offers an existing <br />mechanism for accepting information and providing <br />the reward; <br /> <br />NOW, TIIEREFOP~, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />P~SOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section <br /> <br />1: A reward in the sum of $200.00 shall be offered <br /> under the Secret Witness Program for information <br /> leading to the deterr,.ination of the identity of, <br /> and the apprehension of, the vandal(s) who damaged <br /> the trees in the Val Vista area. <br /> <br />Section <br /> <br />2: A reward in the sum of $200.00 shall be offered <br /> under the Secret Witness Program for information <br /> leading to the determination of the identity of, <br /> and the apprehension of, the person(s) responsible <br /> for painting "KICK" on the garage door. <br /> <br />Section 3: <br /> <br /> The Chief of Police is instructed to ascertain <br />the proper procedure for participating in the <br />Secret Witness Progra~ and to take appropriate <br />action to implement this resolution. <br /> <br />Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
