CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />PZSOLUTION NO. 82-227 <br /> <br />AUTHORIZATION TO CONTRIBUTE $250 TO THE CITY OF <br />PITTSBURG TO ASSIST IN ITS CABLE TELEVISION <br />DEREGULATION LAWSUIT <br /> <br />WtlEREAS, <br /> <br />AB 699 provides that any cable television system <br />meeting certain specific requirements may be <br />exempt from a city's regulation or control as to <br />rates charged; and <br /> <br />W]tEREAS, <br /> <br />the cities of Pittsburg and Antioch have initiated <br />a lawsuit challanging its local cable television's <br />right to deregulate; and <br /> <br />~ltEREAS , <br /> <br />the outcome of this litigation could affect many <br />communities throughout California including the <br />City of Pleasanton; and <br /> <br />~IEPZAS, <br /> <br />the City Council feels it is in the best interests <br />of this community to assist the City of Pittsburg <br />in its litigation; and <br /> <br />WtlEREAS , <br /> <br />the City Attorney of Pittsburg has indicated that <br />monetary contributions are the most needed and, <br />for a city the size of Pleasanton, the sum of $250 <br />would be appropriate; <br /> <br />rIOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Authorizes the contribution of $250 to the City <br /> of Pittsburg to assist it in its litigation on <br /> cable television deregulation. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED JUNE 22, 1982 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES Councilmembers Brandes, K~ercer, Wood and <br /> Vice Eayor Mohr <br />NOES None <br /> <br />~TTEST: ~ <br /> · Wal y Clerk ~C~PPROVED AS TO FORli: <br />By Doris George, Deputy City Clerk <br /> Brian ~.
