CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 82-388 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING A THIRTY DAY PERIOD IN <br />WHICH ESCAPADE SHALL BE VOLUNTARILY REMOVED BY <br />VIACOM FROM ALL NONSUBSCRIBING HOMES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City of Pleasanton is currently experiencing a <br />serious problem of "leakage" of an "R" rated <br />programming channel into homes which are not <br />subscribing, therefore presenting a problem of <br />parental control of children's television viewing; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />until such time as this technical problem of <br />"leakage" is corrected, Council feels that it is <br />in the best interests of the City for Viacom to <br />voluntarily cease broadcasting of the Escapade <br />Channel; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section <br /> <br />1: Council establishes a thirty-day period within <br /> which Viacom is to voluntarily cease broadcasting <br /> of the Escapade Channel pending correction of the <br /> technical problem allowing "leakage" to nonsubscribers. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 28, 1982 BY THE FOLLOWING <br />VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers <br />NOES: Mayor Butler <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />Brandes, Mercer, Mohr and Wood <br /> <br />ATTEST: ~ ~ <br /> ROBERT E BU <br /> · TLER, MAYOR <br /> <br />By Doris George, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> <br />Peter D.
