The Housing and Community Development Act program for the smaller
cities and the unincorporated area of Alameda County in which
Pleasanton participates also has a housing goal to which the City
is committed. The goal is included as part of the City's Housing
Assistance Plan. The Plan calls for assistance to an average of
about 65 lower income households per year within the Pleasanton
area. Such assistance is to include Section 8 existing subsidies,
housing rehabilitation loans and grants, and some provision for
new construction of subsidized units.

Implementation Program 3:
gent effort to address the
housing needs.

To make a good and dili-
City's share of regional

The regional housing goal combines estimates of both local and
regional housing needs. It provides for the City of Pleasanton
to share equitably in responding to the housing needs of house-
holds of all incomes in the Bay Area. The City of Pleasanton
will strive to meet its stated regional housing goal of making
available 2,871 units to households at various incomes while
recognizing that limited economic resources and market con-
straints may make it difficult to achieve meeting its share of
the region's estimated need.

(See Findings section for an analysis of the regional housing

need).

-24-
