CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 82-448 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING POLICY REGARDING FIELD <br />CLOSURE DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER <br /> <br />~tEREAS, <br /> <br />at its meeting of November 9, 1982, the City Council <br />received and reviewed a report from the Director <br />of the Department of Recreation and Human Resources <br />dated November 3, 1982 regarding establishment of <br />a policy regarding closure of city and school sport <br />fields due to inclement weather; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The following Weather Policy is adopted and shall <br /> apply to all Pleasanton parks and sport fields whose <br /> use is facilitated by City of Pleasanton staff: <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />Monday through Friday, the Pleasanton Parks <br />Department determines closures of fields if <br />rainy weather has occurred and so notifies the <br />Recreation and Police Departments. It is the <br />responsibility of each sport group to check <br />with the Recreation Department prior to 5:00 P.m. <br />to determine field Dlayability if any question <br />exists regarding field conditions. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />If during the work week the Pleasanton Parks <br />Department decides fields are closed for the <br />weekend, the Parks Department will notify the <br />Recreation Department of this decision. Again, <br />sports groups must contact the Recreation Depart- <br />ment by 5:00 P.m. Friday to determine field <br />playability far the weekend. Sport grouD leaders, <br />in turn, notify their entire leagues. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />If fields have NOT been closed by 5:00 p.m. <br />Friday and rain occurs Friday night or Saturday <br />or Sunday, all play on all fields is to cease <br />or not start. <br /> <br />If on Friday, weekend play is questionable, an <br />effort will be made to designate a weekend staff <br />person to help determine fields playability via <br />the City telephone system. <br /> <br />(4) <br /> <br />There are two events which have been given prior <br />City EXCEPTION to the inclement weather Dolicy: <br />The Pleasaon Girls Soccer Club's September "Friendship <br />Tournament" and the Ballistic United Soccer Club's <br />November "Holiday Classic".
