CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br />RESOLUTION NO. 00-009 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PROPOSITION 14, THE <br />LIBRARY BOND ACT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is important that all California residents have access to books and information; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, libraries have always been centers of lifelong learning and literacy for children and <br /> adults; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 14 provides $350 million in bond money for building new libraries, <br /> repairing facilities, upgrading telecommunications and electrical systems; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 14 encourages partnerships with local school districts as a critical <br /> element in achieving literacy goals and strengthening our educational system; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Proposition 14 targets funding to vital needs rather than administrative overhead; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council supports Proposition 14, The Library Bond Act. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
