CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 83-317 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION MAINTAINING COUNCIL POLICY ESTABLISHED <br />IN RESOLUTION NO. 73-34 REQUIRING ALL FINANCIAL <br />INSTITUTIONS TO FIRST LOCATE IN THE DOWNTOWN AREA, <br />AND DENYING THE REQUEST OF COAST FEDERAL SAVINGS <br />FOR A WAIVER TO THIS POLICY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council, by Resolution No. 73-34, has <br />established a policy requiring all financial <br />institutions to first locate in the downtown area; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Coast Federal Savings has requested that the City <br />Council grant a waiver to allow establishment of a <br />savings and loan in an outlying commercial district; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Director of Planning and Community Development <br />presented his report to the Council recommending <br />denial of this request because it would set a <br />precedent which would make it difficult to uphold <br />Council's policy; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council reaffirms its policy requiring <br /> financial institutions to first locate in the <br /> downtown area as set forth in Resolution No. 73-34. <br /> <br />Section 2: Denies the request of Coast Federal Savings for <br /> a waiver of the above-mentioned policy. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED JULY 26, 1983 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Mohr, Wood and ~ayor Butler <br />NOES: Councilmember Mercer <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Brandes <br />ABSTAIN: None ~~.BUT~ <br /> ~ '4 ~ o ROBE <br /> <br />By Doris George, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />A~%~V.~7 AS TO FORM: <br />Peter D.
