July 25, 1983

City Council
City of Pleasanton
200 Bernal Avenue
Pleasanton, California 94566

Mr. Mayor and Members of the City Council:

The plans for the extension of the Del Valle Parkway and Bernal Avenue
have been completed in accordance w~th our agreement and reviewed by the
City Staff'. ~ey are generally satisfactory to us except that we object to
the inclusion of a temporary 8 ft. wide bicycle and pedestrian path along
the south side of the Del Valle Parkway and its extension westerly to
Wyoming Street. We will ultimately pay for both the construction and re-
moval of this walkway as well as for other temporary work. We feel that a
4 ft. wide temporary, pedestrian-only sidewalk along the north side of the
Del Valle Parkway connecting to the existing sidewalk at the end of the
existing street would be adequate. There is enough pavement width being
provided for a bicycle lane along the Parkway and since there is no separ-
ate off-street bicycle.lane through the rest of the area we do not feel
it it. warranted in tbis short length.

If the Council believes that an 8 ft. wide temporary pathway is warranted
along the south side as your staff proposes, then we do not feel that we
should be obligated to pay for one-half width or the extension to Wyoming
Street.

Your consideration will be appreciated.

yery truly yours,
