CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 83-189 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REJECTING ALL BIDS FOR NEW TELEPHONE <br />SYSTEM AND INSTRUCTING STAFF TO NEGOTIATE ALTERNATIVE <br />PAYMENT METHODS WITH PACIFIC TELEPHONE AND AMERICAN <br />BELL <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />on November 9, 1982, the City Council approved <br />plans and specifications for a new city telephone <br />system and authorized solicitation of bids; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />thirteen proposals were received which were reviewed <br />and narrowed down to the top two; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />certain payment methods were outlined in the <br />specifications and it has been determined that it <br />would be to the City's advantage to consider <br />alternative payment methods (i.e. varying lease <br />periods) as well as the outright purchase option; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEPdEAS, <br /> <br />to consider these alternatives requires formal <br />rejection of all bids and authorization to negotiate <br />alternative pricing with the top two bidders, <br />Pacific Telephone and American Bell; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council of the City of Pleasanton <br /> hereby rejects all bids received for the proposed <br /> new telephone system for the City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Section 2: <br /> <br /> Staff is authorized to negotiate alternative <br />payment methods with Pacific Telephone and American <br />Bell. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED MAY 10, 1983 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Brandes, Mohr, Wood and Mayor Butler <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None ~~ <br />ABSTAIN: Councilmember Mercer <br /> <br /> <br />
