CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 83-157 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO ANY EXPANSION OF BART <br />SERVICES PRIOR TO PROVIDING SERVICE TO THE LIVERMORE- <br />AMADOR VALLEY AND CONTRA COSTA COUNTY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />a proposal has been made by BART for a study to <br />expand BART services on the peninsula into San <br />Mateo County without consideration of the Livermore- <br />Amador Valley and Contra Costa County area; and <br /> <br />I.~EREAS, <br /> <br />these areas have been involved with BART planning <br />and have paid the additional supportive taxes <br />since the inception of the rapid transit program; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />San Mateo County rejected the proposal at the <br />outset and has never paid any supportive taxes, <br />therefore, it is inappropriate to provide service <br />to this area prior to the Livermore-Amador Valley <br />and Contra Costa County areas; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br />Section 2: <br /> <br /> The City Council of the City of Pleasanton <br />strongly opposes any further expansion of BART <br />services prior to providing service to the <br />Livermore-Amador Valley and Contra Costa County <br />areas. <br /> <br /> This resolution shall become effective immediately <br />upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED APRIL 26, 1983 BY THE FOLLOWING <br />VOTE: <br /> <br /> AYES Councilmembers - Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood and <br /> Mayor Butler <br /> NOES None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> ABSTAIN: None ..~B~?~ <br />.James R.'Wal~'er, City C~erk ~ <br /> By Doris George, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br /> APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> <br /> ~eter D, MacDonald, City Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />
