CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 83-128 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION IN OPPOSITION TO INCREASE IN BRIDGE <br />TOLLS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Metropolitan Transportation Commission is <br />proposing to raise the bridge fares on Saturday <br />and Sunday for the San Francisco-Oakland Bay <br />Bridge and the San Mateo-Hayward Dumbarton Bridge; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the majority of the increased revenue will support <br /> the mass transit system for San Francisco; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />most of the bridge tolls are paid by East Bay <br />motorists and the City Council of Pleasanton feels <br />strongly that Alameda and Contra Costs Counties <br />should not support San Francisco's transit system; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section <br /> <br />1: The City Council of the City of Pleasanton <br /> opposes the proposed increase in bridge tolls for <br /> the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and the San <br /> Mateo-Hayward Dumbarton Bridge. <br /> <br />Section 2: The Metropolitan Transportation Conmaission is <br /> requested to reduce the present toll of 75~ to <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED APRIL 12, 1983 BY THE FOLLOWING <br />VOTE: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmembers - Mercer, Mohr, Wood and Mayor Butler <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Councilmember Brandes <br /> <br />~George, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />Peter iL.I M~c~!na~, City Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />
