CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 83-126 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION PROCLAIMING THE MONTH OF MAY 1983 AS <br />NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH MONTH <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />crime and the fear of crime is one of the most <br />important concerns facing California and the <br />nation; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the effects of crime transcend all social, economic, <br />and geographic boundaries; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />a united cooperative effort by all public and Drivate <br />agencies and the citizenry can effectively reduce <br />crime; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Neighborhood Watch programs actively involve citizens <br />in crime prevention efforts and have been Droven to <br />substantially reduce the incidence of crime in <br />communities throughout the state; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City of Pleasanton, in recognition of the value <br /> of the Neighborhood Watch program, joins the California <br /> Legislature in proclaiming the month of May 1983 as <br /> NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH MONTH. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED APRIL 12, 1983 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Brandes <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />APFROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> <br />Mohr, Wood and Mayor Butler <br /> CU~TLER,~yO~R <br />ROBERT T <br /> <br /> <br />
