CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 83-115 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OPPOSING ASSEMBLY BILL 561 REGARDING <br />SOLID WASTE FACILITIES PLANNING FEES <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />at its meeting of March 22, 1983, the City Council <br />reviewed Assembly Bill 561, which seeks to limit <br />fees for the state mandated solid waste management <br />Dlans to one cent per ton of solid waste disposed in <br />the county; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Councilmember Mercer indicated this one cent Der <br />ton fee would generate only $1,800 per year in <br />additional revenue in Alameda County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />in light of the fact that the budget for the Solid <br />Waste Management Board is $81,000 per year, the <br />additional $1,800 is far from adequate, therefore, <br />it is his recommendation that Council oppose adoption <br />of AB 561; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council hereby opposes the adoption of <br /> Assembly Bill 561 imDosing a limitation on fees of <br /> one cent per ton of solid waste disposed of in the <br /> county as wholly inadequate to carry out state <br /> mandates for solid waste planning. <br /> <br />Section 2: <br /> <br /> Staff is directed to contact Alice Creason, Chairperson <br />of the Solid Waste Management Board and the appropriate <br />legislators to indicate the City's opposition to AB 561. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED MARCH 22, 1983 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: <br /> Mayor Butler <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> <br />Councilmembers - Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood and <br /> <br />MAYOR <br /> <br /> <br />
