CITY COUNCIL OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 83-53 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING A STATE LOTTERY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State of California already has legalized <br /> gambling in the form of horse racing; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />in this time of economic difficulty it becomes <br />necessary for the state to have diverse methods of <br />raising money; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, operation of a state lottery appears to be a good <br /> way to gain much needed revenue; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: The City Council and Planning Commission of the <br /> City of Pleasanton supports the adoption of a <br /> State operated lottery as a fund raising device. <br /> <br />Section 2: Staff is directed to forward a copy of this resolution <br /> to the City's legislative representatives in Sacramento. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED FEBRUARY 8, 1983 BY THE FOLLOWING <br />VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Brandes, Mercer, Wood and Mayor <br /> Butler <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Mohr <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> 0 E <br /> RB <br /> <br />By Doris George, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />let~J~. ~acDon%~d, City Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />
