CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 83-11 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION REQUESTING CALTRANS TO REMOVE THE <br />PAVING FOR THE DIAMOND LANES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE <br /> <br />WHEREAS , <br /> <br />the State of California has designated one lane of <br />Interstate Highway 580 as a "diamond" lane to be <br />used exclusively for carpools and buses during <br />peak commute hours; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />recent legislation has abolished the Diamond Lane <br />requirement on 1-580; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />to eliminate confusion on the Dart of motorists, <br />it is appropriate to reinstate the additional lane <br />adjacent to the "diamond" lane by removal of the <br />paving; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: <br /> <br /> The City Manager is authorized to send a letter <br />to the California State Transportation Department <br />(Caltrans) requesting that they remove the paving <br />on the "diamond" lanes on 1-580 as soon as possible. <br /> <br />Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED JANUARY 11, 1983 BY THE FOLLOWING <br />VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Brandes, Mercer, Mohr and Mayor <br /> Butler <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Wood ~ <br />ABSTAIN: None ~ <br />· Walker, City Clerk <br />By Doris George, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO FORM: <br /> <br /> · ac ona , ~ty Attorney <br /> <br /> <br />
