r I A, I l I <br /> City Council Work Plan for 2009 -2010 <br /> As of April 22, 2009 <br /> Goals Project Description <br /> CITY SERVICES <br /> Provide Effective and Efficient Municipal Services <br /> Annual Joint City Council /Commission Workshops Implement annual joint workshops with advisory boards and commissions <br /> to promote collaboration and teamwork with the City Council, etc <br /> Review /Enhance the City Grant Program Conduct a review of the existing City Grant program and Human Services <br /> programs to assure needs are being met in an appropriate manner. <br /> Fire Sprinkler Ordinance Consider modifications to the Fire Sprinkler Ordinance to include buildings <br /> less than 8,000 square feet and building additions /remodels to ensure a <br /> desirable safety standard is met. The Planning Commission has been <br /> requesting that the ordinance be expanded to address new development <br /> and building expansions to avoid the need of adding such conditions on <br /> an ad hoc basis. <br /> Zoning Code Update Update and streamline the Commercial and Industrial sections of the <br /> Zoning Ordinance to more accurately reflect current business uses and to <br /> streamline the process of approving new businesses, thus providing more <br /> efficient application of the zoning code and creating a more business <br /> friendly process. <br /> State and Federal Legislative Activities Work proactively with the League of California Cities and local <br /> communities to monitor legislation that may impact the City financially, and <br /> lobby for funding of Federal, State, and County- mandated programs and <br /> projects. <br /> Update City Council Procedures Handbook Review and evaluation of various procedures to address public meeting <br /> efficiencies. <br /> Parking restrictions for recreational vehicles Consideration of an amendment to the Pleasanton Municipal Code <br /> updating the off street parking restrictions for recreational vehicle storage <br /> criteria within residential yard areas. The Pleasanton Municipal Code <br /> (PMC) does not provide specific restrictive language for oversized <br /> recreational vehicles. Recreational vehicles have dramatically changed in <br /> size from when the code was adopted and the code did not consider that <br /> these vehicles could be so large as to potentially create a visual nuisance. <br /> Develop standards for Sports Courts Consideration of an amendment to the Pleasanton Municipal Code to <br /> establish development standards for sports courts. The current <br /> Pleasanton Municipal Code does not provide development standards, a <br /> review process, or permitting process for sports courts. <br /> Public Outreach Disseminate information regarding City policies and services to <br /> Pleasanton residents and businesses through the use of newsletters, <br /> information brochures, the Internet, televised public meetings, and <br /> cooperation with the media. <br /> A -8 <br />
