BACKGROUND <br /> On February 4, 2009, the Pleasanton Downtown Association (PDA) submitted a letter to <br /> the City Council requesting increasing the limited time parking in the downtown from two <br /> hours to three hours. The PDA discussed the potential change with its membership and <br /> received favorable reaction from the local merchants. The request is supported by the <br /> merchants, general membership, Downtown Vitality Committee and Board of Directors <br /> (see Attachment 2). <br /> On May 5, 2009, staff introduced an amendment to the Pleasanton Municipal Code <br /> establishing a three -hour limited time parking zone category. The ordinance was <br /> adopted at the May 19, 2009, City Council meeting, and will become effective 30 days <br /> from that date. <br /> DISCUSSION <br /> The resolution will replace two -hour limited term parking with three -hour limited time <br /> parking on the following downtown streets: <br /> Old Bernal Avenue, on the northerly side of Bernal Avenue adjacent to the <br /> Veterans Building. <br /> Division Street, on the north side of Division Street between Main Street and <br /> 245 feet east of Main Street. <br /> Division Street, on the north side of Division Street from 185 feet west of Main <br /> Street westerly to Peters Avenue. <br /> East Angela Street, on both sides, from Main Street to 150 feet west of First <br /> Street. <br /> Main Street, on the east side of Main Street from Arroyo Del Valle bridge on the <br /> north to 426 feet south of Old Bernal Avenue. <br /> Main Street, on the west side of Main Street from Arroyo Del Valle bridge on the <br /> north to 409 feet south of Old Bernal Avenue. <br /> Neal Street, on the south side of Neal Street from Main Street to 400 feet east of <br /> Main Street. <br /> Neal Street, on the north side of Neal Street from Main Street to 135 feet east of <br /> Main Street. <br /> Rose Avenue, on the south side of Rose Avenue from Main Street to 155 feet <br /> west of Main Street. <br /> Rose Avenue, on the south side of Rose Avenue from 43 feet east of Peters <br /> Avenue to 91 east of Peters Avenue. <br /> Spring Street, on the south side between the two driveways located on either <br /> side of 126 Spring Street. <br /> Spring Street, on the north side of Spring Street from Main Street to Railroad <br /> Street. <br /> St. Mary's Street, on the north side of St. Mary's Street from Main Street to 350 <br /> feet west of Main Street. <br /> St. Mary's Street, on the south side of St. Mary's Street from Main Street to <br /> Peters Avenue. <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br />
