Presentation of proclamation proclaiming May as Older Americans Month <br />Councilmember McGovern presented and read into the record, a proclamation to Christine Steiner, <br />Pleasanton Senior Center Advisory Committee Member, and Alameda County Commissioner on <br />Aging. <br />Ms. Steiner recognized and introduced Volunteers of the Senior Center, former members of the <br />Commission on Aging, and she thanked the Council for their financial support and those who <br />volunteer their time for seniors for their support. She discussed issues of a changing senior <br />population and diversity and changes to programs to address this, and she presented a gift to the <br />Council. <br />Mayor Hosterman, on behalf of the City Council, thanked all volunteers in the community. <br />12. Public Comment <br />Wendy Weathers, Operations Manager at Open Heart Kitchen, announced their new program. <br />Plant a Garden for Open Heart Kitchen. She asked people to bring their extra produce to site, said <br />they will have a booth on the First Wednesdays of the month, and reported they serve over 150,000 <br />nutritious, hot meals a year to people in the Tri- Valley area.
