19.5 <br /> <br />The written application Submitted to the Educational <br />Standards Committee must include the following: <br /> <br />A description of the educational level to <br />be pursued. <br /> <br />Employees pursuing a specific number of <br />college credits as set forth in this plan <br />in lieu of a BS or a BA degree must indicate <br />a major field of study and submit a list of <br />courses to be taken in that major field. <br /> <br />Prior to enrollment in a junior college, college, or <br />university, the employee must have received written <br />approval from the Educational Standards Committee as <br />to his/her eligibility to enroll in the Educational <br />Incentive Plan. <br /> <br />NOTE: No employee shall receive educational incentive <br /> pay for any educational level attained unless he/she <br /> has received advanced written approval from the <br /> Educational Standards Committee as set forth in this <br /> section. <br /> <br />The junior college, college, or university from <br />which an educational level is to be received must <br />be accredited by the Western Association of Schools <br />and Colleges. <br /> <br />Educational Levels/Pay <br /> <br />Educational levels attained under the Incentive Pay Plan <br />must be completed with a total grade point average of <br />"C" or better. The specific levels of educational <br />achievement and their respective educational pay per- <br />centages to which the educational incentive pay plan <br />applies are as follows. <br /> <br />In part, in recognition of the monthly salary established <br />for the rank of Fire Captain as set forth in Section 5, <br />the Union agrees effective July 1, 1984, to the reduction <br />in the educational incentive pay percentage for Fire Captains <br />for the following educational levels: BS/BA degree, 180 <br />college quarter units, 120 college semester units. Said <br />pay percentage shall be reduced from five percent (5%) <br />to two and one-half percent (2-1/2%) as reflected below. <br /> <br />-19- <br /> <br /> <br />
