5.2 <br /> <br />5.3 <br /> <br />5.4 <br /> <br />5.5 <br /> <br />5.6 <br /> <br />Fire Engineer's Classification <br /> <br />Effective July 1, 1984, the City shall create the classi- <br />fication of Pire Engineer on the aerial apparatus. The <br />senior Firefighter on each shift in the station to which the <br />aerial apparatus is assigned shall be reclassified to the <br />Fire Engineer's classification effective July 1, 1984. The <br />monthly compensation of said Fire Engineer shall be as set <br />forth in Section 5.1 provided, however, that said reclassi- <br />fied employees shall be assigned the same salary step in the <br />Fire Engineer's salary range as they held in the Firefighter's <br />salary range. <br /> <br />The city shall consider seriously the extension of the <br />Fire Engineer's classification to engine companies upon the <br />Fire Chief's recommendation. The City is not obligated to <br />act upon said recommendation, however. <br /> <br />Lieutenant's Classification <br /> <br />Effective July 1, 1984, the City shall create a revised~ <br />classification of Fire Lieutenant. The monthly compensation <br />of said Fire Lieutenant classification shall be as set forth <br />in Section 5.1. <br /> <br />Reclassification of Fire Lieutenants to Fire Captains <br /> <br />Effective July 1, 1984, employees in the classification of <br />Fire Lieutenant shall be reclassified to the position of Fire <br />Captain. Employees so reclassified shall be assigned the <br />same salary step in the Fire Captains salary range set forth in <br />Section 5.1 as they held in the Fire Lieutenants salary range. <br /> <br />Entrance Salary <br /> <br />The entrance salary for a new employee entering the City <br />service shall be the minimum salary for the class to which <br />he/she is appointed. When circumstances warrant, the Fire <br />Chief may authorize original appointment or reinstatement <br />at other than the minimum rate. <br /> <br />Conversion of Pay Rates <br /> <br />Any monthly rate of Fay may be converted into any equiva- <br />lent rate of pay or to any other time basis when, in the <br />judgment of the City Manager, such a conversion is advis- <br />able. In determining the equivalent amounts on different <br />time basis, the City Manager shall provide tables for use <br />in converting monthly salaries to hourly rates, as well as <br />calculating hourly rates. <br /> <br />for <br /> <br />-6- <br /> <br /> <br />
