CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

RESOLUTION NO. 84-370

APPROVAL OF REQUEST FOR APPROPRIATION FOR VALLEY
TRAILS FLOOD PLAIN ELEVATION APPEAL

WHEREAS,

due to recent changes in the Federal Emergency
Management Agency's (FEMA) Flood Insurance Study,
200 homes have been removed from the 100-year
flood plain and the remaining homes within the
flood plain will be subjected to a lesser degree
of a chance for flooding to occur; and

WHEREAS,

preliminary studies estimated that approximately
300 more homes within Valley Trails would be
removed from the 100-year flood plain, however,
FEMA and their consultants did not interpret the
data provided in the same manner; and

WHEREAS,

it appears that between 60-70% of the remaining
450 homes within Valley Trails could be removed
from the 100-year flood plain if each home were
surveyed and the elevation data collected was
submitted to FEMA in a further appeal to their
Flood Study and Maps; and

WHEREAS,

it is anticipated that a maximum expenditure of
$4,500.00 would be necessary for a licensed land
surveyor to survey each home within Valley Trails
and to prepare the necessary documents for the
appeal;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON
RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

Section

1: Approves the appropriation of $4,500.00 for the
surveying necessary to proceed with an appeal to
the FEMA Flood Insurance Study and Maps for the
Valley Trails area.

Section 2: This resolution shall become effective immediately
upon its passage and adoption.

THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED JULY 24, 1984 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE:
