THE CITY OF <br />-.. ~ m: n :~ ~ v..~ d u i <br />~'L~~S~4NTON~ CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />April 21, 2009 <br />Economic Development <br />TITLE: APPROVE IMPLEMENTATION OF WAYFINDING SIGN PROGRAM TO <br />DIRECT VISITORS TO DOWNTOWN PLEASANTON <br />SUMMARY <br />To ensure that visitors to Pleasanton are aware of, and can locate, the downtown <br />commercial district, the City and the Pleasanton Downtown Association (PDA) have <br />developed a Downtown wayfinding sign program. Existing signs of several different <br />designs will be replaced with a comprehensive system of 51 coordinated signs placed <br />strategically throughout the city to provide direction to the Downtown. The sign program <br />is being presented for City Council's information. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends City Council approve the Downtown wayfinding sign program and <br />sign design, and authorize City staff to make and install the signs. <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />The materials cost for each sign is $36; the cost for the recommended 51 signs is <br />$1,836. As the new wayfinding signs will be made and installed by staff in the City's <br />Streets Division there is no direct expenditure of funds. <br />
