CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 84-345 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING CERTAIN POLICIES FOR THE <br />NOVEMBER 6, 1984 MUNICIPAL ELECTION <br /> <br />WHEREAS , <br /> <br />§10012 of the Elections Code authorizes the City <br />Council to establish certain charges for handling <br />candidate election materials; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City Council at its meeting of July 10, 1984, <br />considered the options available under the above- <br />mentioned section for increasing the length of the <br />candidate's statement, billing candidates the pro <br />rata cost of printing and mailing to voters the <br />candidate's statements and setting rules and <br />regulations for additional materials; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Candidates will be charged a pro rata amount for <br /> the cost of printing their statement of qualifications. <br /> <br />Section 2: The candidate's statement of qualifications <br /> shall not exceed 200 words. <br /> <br />Section 3: No materials other than the voter's pamphlet and <br /> sample ballot shall be transmitted by the City <br /> Clerk to the voters. If a candidate wishes to <br /> send additional materials to the voters, it will <br /> have to be at the candidate's expense and by persons <br /> other than the City. <br /> <br />Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED JULY 10, 1984 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Brandes, Butler, Mohr and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: Councilmember Wood <br />ABSENT: None ~j~ <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />By Doris George, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />Pe'~. ~acDona d, ity' ttorney <br /> <br /> <br />
