The initial distribution of property tax from the County <br />represents the lion's share of the unsecured property tax only. The unsecured property <br />tax is the tax on items such as machinery and equipment as opposed to the secured <br />property tax which is the tax on real property. Given the instability of the real estate <br />market along with the rise in delinquencies and foreclosures in Alameda County, it <br />warrants ongoing monitoring of property tax receipts to determine if budgeted revenues <br />will actually be realized.
