THE ~~TY or 12 <br />-•• ~~°~°~~~ ~=' ~ ~ "" CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT <br />~L~ ~SI~NTON <br />March 17, 2009 <br />Community Development <br />Planning Division <br />TITLE: ADOPT A RESOLUTION AFFIRMING SUPPORT OF AND <br />PARTNERSHIP WITH THE 2010 CENSUS AND RECEIVE A REPORT <br />REGARDING 2010 CENSUS ACTIVITIES <br />SUMMARY <br />The U.S. Census Bureau will conduct the next census on April 1, 2010. This report <br />outlines several activities undertaken in preparation for the Census and future efforts <br />that are aimed at achieving the most accurate and complete count of all residents. In <br />recognition of the partnership between the City of Pleasanton and the U.S. Census <br />needed to achieve this complete count, the City Council is being asked to adopt the <br />attached resolution. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action: <br />1. Adopt the attached resolution affirming support of and partnership with the <br />2010 Census <br />2. Receive information regarding Census activities <br />FINANCIAL STATEMENT <br />Some staff time will be needed to complete the tasks outlined in this report. The City <br />received a partial reimbursement for time spent on the LUCA process, and can receive <br />up to $5,500 in reimbursement for efforts related to disseminating information about the <br />2010 Census. <br />
