Weed Abatement Standards <br />/~vermore-Pleasan[mr Fire Department <br />GENERAL NOTES: <br />Page 2 <br />Combustible storage such as usable lumber, cord wood, hay or straw shall be neatly stacked and <br />all combustible growth shall be removed from within forty feet (40') of the stored material. <br />Storage of agricultural products such as hay, straw, etc. shall be limited to stacks of L00 tons <br />each with a separation of at leas[ twenty feet (20') between stacks. No stack oC agricultural <br />products shall be stored closer to a building than a distance equal to at least the height of the <br />stack, but in no case less than twenty feel (20'). Combustible trash, rubbish or litter shall be <br />removed from the property. <br />Property abated by the owner or the owners agent will be inspected by the Fire Department <br />when completed to assure compliance with City standards. <br />You may contact the Fire Inspector by calling (925) 454-236 L. <br /> <br />MOWING Must be done within 4 inches of the ground and is allowed only: <br /> • Along streets where discing, rototilling or blade work would undermine <br />(If Mowing is the road base or disturb the slope <br />done on [n areas not accessible to a disc, rototiller or blade <br />property, As perimeter break for pastures with grazing animals <br />maintenance IC granted by Fire Prevention Bureau <br />will be needed) <br />FIRE BREAKS Must be disced, rototillcd, bladed or dozed with dirt turned over sufficiently to <br /> allow a 50~/o minimum concentration of dirt in the worked area. <br />DISCING and Dirt must he turned over sufficiently to allow for a 50% minimum <br />ROTOT[LL[NG concentration of dirt in the worked area. [t is possible that more Lhan one <br /> pass with the disc will be required to achieve this. <br />BEADING and Must expose 75°/a minimum of clean dirt Care should be taken not to disntpt <br />DOZING the existing grade. Sloughed off dirt and grass should be spread out and not <br /> bcrmcd up. Any piles created shall be hauled away. <br />RECOMMENllA"PION: <br />If possible, property should he disced prior to Muy Ist in order to take advantage of the moisture that accumulates in <br />the soil during the winter. The increased moisture content will allow the disc to turn over the mil more easily and <br />efficiently on the first pass, thus requiring fewer pusses and providing u more thorough job, which could result in a <br />reduction in abatement cocks. <br />Wccd Standards ?009 <br />
