BACKGROUND In June 1998, the Pleasanton City Council and the Pleasanton Unified School District Board of Trustees approved the establishment of a Youth Master Plan for the City of Pleasanton. The approved plan also included a recommendation to establish a Youth Master Plan Implementation Group (now, the Youth Master Plan Implementation Committee) consisting of various representatives from the faith, non-profit, parent and youth community. DISCUSSION This report recommends an appointment to the YMPIC for the Pre-school Parent-at- large seat. In concert with the City's call for board and commission members, the City advertised and requested applications be submitted to fill the YMPIC vacancies. A volunteer YMPIC subcommittee served on the interview panel. Applicants were interviewed on February 12, 2009 and the interview panel announced the recommended appointment during the March 9, 2009 YMPIC meeting. The following applicant is recommended to serve on the YMPIC: Applicant Name YMPIC Seat Represented Position Term Jennifer Schmiegel Pre-school Parent-at-large Parent Representative 4/2009-4/2013 Additional vacancies are expected to occur in June due to graduations. Staff will continue to hold recruitments in concert with the regular boards and commissions recruiting schedule. The following is a list of YMPIC vacancies that remain. Some applications for youth seats were received and later withdrawn.
