CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br />ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 84-331 <br /> <br />REVIEW OF BIDS AND AWARD OF CONTRACT TO O.C. JONES <br />& SONS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF RAILROAD GRADE SEPARATION <br />WITH ~STERN PACIFIC RAILROAD COMPANY AT PLEASANTON - <br />SUNOL ROAD (SOUTH OF VERONA ROAD), BERNAL AVENUE <br />AND DEL VALLE PARKWAY, PROJECT NO. 84-7 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the City prepared plans and specifications for <br />construction of railroad grade separations with <br />Western Pacific Railroad Company at Pleasanton for <br />Sunol Road (South of Verona Road), Bernal Avenue <br />and Del Valle Parkway, Project No. 84-7; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />pursuant to Government Code §37900, et seq., the <br />City Engineering Services Division advertised for <br />bids regarding this project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />bids were reviewed by the City Council on June 12, <br />1984; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />Gradeway Construction Company, the apparent low <br />bidder, requested a release from their bid due to <br />an error which was granted; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />award of the project to the next low bidder was <br />postponed to this meeting in order to review O. C. <br />Jones & Sons' bid because of a letter of protest <br />received from Redgwick Construction; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Director of Public Works and Utilities presented <br />his report (SR 84:335) dated June 20, 1984, reviewing <br />in detail the bid information received and recommending <br />that the bid of O. C. Jones & Sons be accepted; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Denies the protest of Redgwick Cosntruction. <br /> <br />Section 2: <br /> <br /> The bid of O. C. Jones & Sons, in the amount of <br />$4,725,237.40, for construction of railroad grade <br />separations with Western Pacific Railroad Company <br />at Pleasanton - Sunol Road (south of Verona Road), <br />Bernal Avenue and Del Valle Parkway, Project No. <br />84-7, is hereby accepted by the City Council as <br />the lowest responsible bid. <br /> <br />Section 3: The Mayor is authorized to execute a contract <br /> with O. C. Jones & Sons for the improvements <br /> specified above. <br /> <br /> <br />
