13
THE CITY OF
-.. t ,,, :., e,.ll .,w.~ ~ ~..
~L£~S~4NTONn CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
March 3, 2009
City Manager
TITLE: REVIEW OF CITY'S STATE AND FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES
SUMMARY
This report provides information about the City's state and federal legislative priorities.
The focus on state and federal legislation will involve atwo-part approach. At the state
level; Pleasanton will support the League of California Cities legislative policies and
work with the four other Tri-Valley cities to support regional funding and preserve local
control and revenues. At the federal level, the Tri-Valley Cities have presented a unified
front to our Washington delegation to emphasize the importance of regional project
funding. In addition, federal funding for local projects unique to Pleasanton will also be
pursued through the federal earmark process. Coordinated efforts among the Tri-Valley
Cities will continue as we respond to relevant legislative topics for California's 2009 and
the 2010 federal legislative sessions, including recently approved federal stimulus
funds.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the City Council accept this report and provide feedback as
necessary.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT
There is no fiscal impact associated with this report.
