BACKGROUND <br />This was the second and final construction phase and has resulted in the renovation of <br />the landscape plantings and irrigation system for all 20 separate roadway median <br />islands on West Las Positas Boulevard, from Santa Rita Road to Boardwalk Street. <br />This first phase renovated the nine (g) landscaped median islands from Santa Rita <br />Road to Thistledown Court. The work of this second phase has completed the median <br />island renovation from Thistledown Court to Boardwalk Street. These median islands <br />had declined in appearance over the past several years, and required complete <br />renovation. <br />On September 2, 2008, the City Council awarded a construction contract to the firm of <br />Suarez & Munoz Construction, Inc., of Hayward, for the low bid of $186,200. <br />Construction work began in late September, 2008, and was completed satisfactorily and <br />on-time.
