1 <br />MINUTES <br />CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />January 8, 2009 <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Hosterman called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Councilmember McGovern <br />led in the Pledge of Allegiance and provided the introductory remarks. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br />Absent: None <br />AGENDA AMENDMENTS <br />Councilmember Sullivan continued Item 4; PUD-74, Ponderosa Homes, to February 17. <br />CONSENT CALENDAR <br />Community Development <br />Accepted actions of the Zoning Administrator <br />Motion: It was m/s by Cook-Kallio/Thorne to approve Consent Calendar. Motion passed by the <br />following vote: <br />Ayes: Councilmembers Cook-Kallio, McGovern, Sullivan, Thorne, Mayor Hosterman <br />Noes: None <br />Absent: None <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br />2. Public Comment <br />Fred Norman asked that the Council commemorate American soldiers who have died in Iraq, <br />reported that 14 additional soldiers had died in December and he asked the Council to <br />recognize the sacrifices of them. <br />Kathy Dowding spoke of families' losses due to the war in Iraq and read the names of those <br />who have recently passed. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br />3. Continued from December 6, 2008 -Public Hearing: PAP-129, City Council - <br />Consider an appeal of the Planning Commission's approval of a conditional use permit to <br />allow the operation of the following at 1262 Quarry Lane, Suite A, in the Valley Business <br />Park: (1) a martial arts/childcare facility, Monday through Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to <br />6:15 p.m.; (2) full-time childcare program camps during school breaks and holidays; and <br />(3) evening martial arts classes, Monday through Friday, from 6:45 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. <br />City Council Minutes Page 1 of 9 January 6, 2009 <br />
