Commercial Activity 1982 total taxable transactions in the City of Pleasanton are over two times greater than the 1979 figure. The opining of Stoneridge Shopping Center in 1981 is largely responsible for the increased valuation of taxable sales. Stoneridge Center, a large regional shopping center located at the intersection of Interstate Highways 580 and 680 has three full-line department stores, including Macy's, Emporium-Capwell, and J. C. Penney Company and nearly lO0 smaller shops, restaurants and service establishments. There are also a number of neighborhood shopping centers in the City. The City's central business districtg is located in downtown Pleasanton in the southern portion of the City. Table E-5 presents taxable transactions for the City from 1977 through 1982. E-5
