SECTiOP,] 2 <br /> <br />WATER DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS <br /> <br />2-01 General: <br /> <br />a) <br /> <br />Water distribution systems shall generally be designed <br />on the basis of criteria established in this section and <br />subject to final determinations and approval of the City <br />Engineer. <br /> <br /> b) Major mains and storage facilities shall conform to the <br /> City's overall master plan. <br /> <br />2-02 Zones: <br /> <br />The system shall be designed to fit, the following zones insofar <br />as possible: <br /> <br />a) <br />b) <br />c) <br />d) <br />e) <br /> <br />Zone I Sunol Elev. 200 to Elev. 315 <br />ZOne II Valley Floor Elev. 315 to Elev. 430 <br />Zone III Pleasanton Heights Elev. 430 to Elev. 545 <br />Zone IV Hilltop Elev. 545 to Elev. 660 <br />Such other zones as may be existing or established, <br />upon approval of the City Engineer. <br /> <br />2-03 Pressures: [ <br /> <br /> a) The pressure shall normally be maintained between a minimtun <br /> of 40 psi during peak domestic demand, and a maximum of <br /> 90 psi. <br /> <br />b) <br /> <br />Pressure regulating valves shall be used where pressure <br />exceeds 90 psi. <br /> <br />c) <br /> <br />The residual pressure shall be maintained at a minimum of <br />20 psi under fire flow conditions. <br /> <br />2-04 Fire Flow: <br /> <br />Required fire flow in gallons per minute shall be as follows <br />for the indicated zoning districts or existing uses, whichever <br />is greater: <br /> <br />FIRE FLOW REQUIREMENTS <br /> <br /> Land Use Required Fi~e Flow Duration <br /> ( gpm ) ( hour s ) <br /> <br />Single Family Residential 1,500 2 <br />Multiple Family Residential 2,500 2 <br />Schools 2,500 2 <br />BusineSs and Conunercial 2,500 2 <br />Industrial and Commercial <br /> (Low Requirements) 3,500 4 <br />Industrial and Commercial <br /> (High Requirements) 3,500,-4,500 4 <br /> <br />Ultimate planned zoning will be used as the basis of use. <br /> <br /> <br />
