EXHIBIT 5: Letter from Catholic Cemeteries
June 15, 2006
Mr. Robert Seelig
Director
Catholic Cemeteries of the
Diocese of Oakland
1965 Reliez Valley Road
Lafayette, CA 94549
RE: PLEASANTON MEMORIAL CEMETERY
Dear Robert:
The City of Pleasanton has asked that I verify with you in writing the discussions we
have had relative to the Diocese role in the future operations of the Cemetery. This
letter will summarize the concepts for your review and acknowledgement.
The plan would be for the City or a Foundation to contract with Catholic Cemeteries for
you to:
a. Maintain the books and records of the cemetery and automate these
records into your system over time.
b. Provide for customer service for all inquiries about the cemetery and its
services including the sale of burial rights and interment service
scheduling.
c. Provide for the remaining burials and memorial foundations to be placed
in the cemetery.
d. Assist the City and the Foundation in determining the best use for any
undeveloped parcels in the Cemetery understanding your preference is to
close the Cemetery to new burials as soon as practical.
For such services, the Diocese will receive 100% of the fees assessed for interments
and memorial foundation and installation services. Further, the Diocese would receive
30% of the sale of burial rights, if any. The City and the Foundation would address the
general care and maintenance separately with other providers.
If this is generally agreeable to you, subject to a definitive agreement at some future
date, please sign the acknowledgement below.
My thanks for your consideration.
Sincerely,
~G I~%(rl,~~ ~_~
Lawrence F. Sloane
Robert Seelig
Its: Director
Date: ~~/J,~ f,
