RESOLUTION NO. 08- 245 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE FACT OF THE CONSOLIDATED GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 4, 2008 DECLARING THE RESULT AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW WHEREAS, a General Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of Pleasanton, California, Tuesday, November 4, 2008, as required by law; and WHEREAS, notice of the election was given in the time, form and manner as provided by law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers were appointed and that in all respects the election was held and conducted and the votes were cast, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared in time, form and manner as required by the provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California for the holding of elections in general law cities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 08-209 adopted June 3, 2008 and Resolution Nos. 08-227 and 08-228 adopted July 15, 2008, the Alameda County Election Department canvassed the returns of the election and has certified the results, which are attached and made a part hereof as "Exhibit A". NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON DOES RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 7. That the total number of ballots cast in said election was 35,071 which represent 83.98% of Pleasanton's eligible voters. SECTION 2. That the names of the persons voted for at the election for Members of the City Council were as follows: Office of Mavor Office of Councilmember Jennifer Hosterman Cindy McGovern Steve Brozosky Matt Sullivan Howard Neely Jerry Pentin SECTION 3. That the Measures voted for at the election are as follows: Measure PP: Shall the Save Pleasanton's Hills and Housing Cap Citizens' Initiative be adopted? Measure OO: Shall the Pleasanton Ridgeline Protection and Growth Control Initiative be adopted, that would preserve scenic hillsides and ridges surrounding Pleasanton, and affirm and implement policies that protect hillsides and define housing units that respects the voter- approved housing cap? SECTION 4. That the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of the persons above named for the respective offices for which the persons were candidates, and the number of votes given at each precinct and the number of votes given for the Measure is as listed in "Exhibit "B" attached.
