CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 85-537 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING 1985-86 TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS <br /> MANAGEMENT PROGRAM AND ESTABLISHING A POLICY STATEMENT <br /> IN SUPPORT OF TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT (TSM) <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at its meeting of November 5, 1985, the City Council <br /> reviewed the report of the Director of Planning and <br /> Community Development (SR 85:550) regarding the 1985-86 <br /> TSM program and related budget amendments; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has recognized the potential negative <br /> environmental impacts on the region and community <br /> resulting from increased traffic as the City experiences <br /> tremendous economic growth; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the benefits which can be realized from more efficient <br /> use of the transportation network are: <br /> <br /> - reduced traffic congestion <br /> - improved air quality <br /> - lowered ambient noise levels <br /> - conservation of energy <br /> - slower deterioration of streets and highways <br /> - reduced employee stress due to commute driving, and <br /> - reduced employee commute costs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City has demonstrated its commitment to effective <br /> traffic management through the adoption of the citywide <br /> Transportation Systems Management (TSM) Ordinance on <br /> October 2, 1984; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Approves the Fiscal Year 1985-86 TSM Program and <br /> attendant budget amendments as presented in Staff Report <br /> 85:550, except that the reserved covered parking for <br /> City Hall employees and the hiring of a marketing intern <br /> are removed. <br /> <br />Section 2: The City of Pleasanton endorses the use of <br /> alternative transportation modes for the good of the <br /> region, the community, the City and its employees. <br /> <br />Section 3: The City resolves to achieve the goals of the TSM <br /> Ordinance through the provision of an ongoing TSM <br /> program for City employees. <br /> <br /> <br />
