CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 85-488 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION SUPPORTING FEDERAL FUNDING FOR <br /> RESEARCH ON THE EFFECT OF POLLUTANTS ON SAN <br /> FRANCISCO BAY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the San Francisco Bay and Delta is an estuary of national <br /> significance in terms of habitat for fish and other aquatic <br /> life, for recreation, municipal, agricultural, and industrial <br /> water supply, and as an aesthetic resource, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this resource is subject to adverse impacts from point and <br /> nonpoint discharges of pollutants, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the need for more research on the effects of pollutants on <br /> the San Francisco Bay and Delta has long been recognized by <br /> this Board, by the State Water Resources Control Board, and <br /> by all those who care about the protection of the Bay, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, funding for such research has been proposed as part of Clean <br /> Water Act reauthorization currently before Congress, <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON RESOLVES AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Expresses its full support for federal funding for <br />research on the impacts of pollutant discharges on the San <br />Francisco Bay and Delta, and instructs to so inform the <br />appropriate Congressional representatives, <br /> <br />Section 2: Urges other agencies of local government in the Bay Area <br /> to adopt similar positions of support. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its <br /> passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED OCTOBER 15, 1985 BY THE FOLLOI~ING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Brandes, Butler, Mohr and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Wood <br />ABSTAIN: None ~~~j~ <br />ATTEST: <br /> R, MAYOR <br /> <br />by Doris George, Deputy City Clerk <br /> <br />APPROVED AS TO [OPJ4: <br /> <br />~et~r Di ~ City ~ tBrney <br /> ac ona , <br /> <br /> <br />
