City of Pleasanton, Court of Appeal, State of California, First District, Case <br />No. A118327 <br />Conference with Labor Negotiators pursuant to Government Code §54957.6: <br />Agency representatives: Nelson Fialho and Julie Yuan-Miu <br />Employee organization: Pleasanton Police Officers Association <br />City Attorney Roush said the Council had two matters in Closed Session; one regarding labor <br />negotiations and Council took action to place that matter for consideration of a new agreement <br />on the August 19, 2008 agenda. Also in Closed Session, there was discussion of pending <br />litigation and Council took action and directed that a Petition for Review be filed with the <br />California Supreme Court concerning the Court of Appeal decision in that matter. <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br />14. Presentation by Pleasanton Cultural Arts Foundation for the Firehouse Arts Center <br />Councilmember McGovern noted that July 17`" is the official groundbreaking at the Center, <br />located at 4444 Railroad Avenue. <br />John Loll, President, Pleasanton Cultural Arts Foundation, thanked the Council and staff for <br />their leadership in making today a reality, having the historical fire station on Railroad Avenue <br />being transformed into a visual arts and performing arts center is wonderful. He applauded and <br />acknowledged supporters of the project and introduced Pat Smith and Charlotte Severin from <br />the Pleasanton Art League who presented a check in the amount of $20,000 from the <br />Pleasanton Arts League. <br />Mr. Loll said the Pleasanton Arts League was the first pledge of the campaign, highlighted the <br />arts classrooms, and the upcoming groundbreaking event. He also presented a grant certificate <br />and read the resolution. <br />15. Public Comments <br />Steve Brozosky said the Theater will allow expansion of the downtown, thanked the Cultural <br />Arts Foundation for their work and the Council for moving ahead with construction. <br />Pat Murray, representing the Pleasanton Tulancingo, Mexico Sister City Association in the <br />capacity of Student Exchange Director, said the program began on June 16 when 6 students <br />arrived from Tulancingo to spend a month in Pleasanton and was concluded yesterday when <br />Pleasanton students left for Mexico. On June 23 students got an opportunity to visit <br />Sacramento, were introduced and welcomed by Senator Ellen Corbett, who presented a <br />City Council Minutes 3 July 15, 2008 <br />
