who have served in the Armed Forces, and said he will ensure those military representatives <br />receive the benefits and services they have earned and deserve. <br />Michael McDermott voiced concern regarding the candidates' forum last night where activists <br />from the NOW deliberately censored his question for their designated favorite candidates, anti- <br />discrimination laws, and asked the City Attorney to investigate the abuse of censorship. <br />Kathy Dowding read the names and personal stories of 7 of 4,186 soldiers who have died in <br />Iraq. <br />Fred Norman said he is impressed with the Council's relationship with military groups in <br />Pleasanton and voiced his respect for those groups, said 3,000 Americans lost their lives on <br />9/11 and 4,186 in Iraq, and said 1 American and 10 Iraqis die every day, and asked for the war <br />to stop. <br />Steve Brozosky spoke of those who ignore the Community of Character trait of honesty in <br />literature materials regarding Measure OO, discussed two major contributions to the Measure <br />QQ campaign and encouraged residents to support Measure PP. <br />Richard Pugh felt the City's Measure OO has been hijacked and taken over by money by <br />property developers and discussed information on Form 460's. <br />Mary Roberts voiced concern about theft of political signs, vandalism to homes with <br />McCain/Palin signs, violence, disruption in a candidates' forum and the need to be civil. <br />Karla Brown noted the authors of Measure PP, believed a ridgeline protection must be enacted <br />and felt Measure PP will protect ridgelines and hillsides immediately after the election. <br />Greg Crofton requested Item 14 be continued, as residents in the area thought the item would <br />be on the Consent Calendar rather than a public hearing item, complimented City staff and <br />members of the Parks and Recreation Commission as the staff report reflects feelings of the <br />community. <br />Kevin Close spoke on Measures PP and QQ, stating that 5,000 people have brought forward <br />their petition leaving approximately 29,000 to make their own decisions, said he will be <br />influenced by the measures because of promises made by the City 10 years ago regarding the <br />golf course, the Happy Valley Specific Plan and the bypass road, and he encouraged residents <br />to read the measures and think about promises made in the past. <br />Mayor Hosterman summarized speaker comments regarding concerns of signs being stolen, <br />houses being vandalized and asked people to evoke as much civility as possible over the next <br />two weeks. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br />13.
