CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 85-442 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING THE APPLICATION FOR FUNDS UNDER THE <br /> CALIFORNIA SENIOR CENTER BOND ACT OF 1984 FOR THE SENIOR <br /> CENTER IMPROVEMENT PROJECT <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the people of the State of California have approved the <br /> Senior Center Bond Act of 1984, which provides funds t <br /> public and private nonprofit agencies for the purpose of <br /> acquiring, constructing, altering or renovating senior <br /> centers and purchasing equipment or funding startup <br /> costs for senior centers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the California Department of Aging has been delegated <br /> the responsibility for the administration of the <br /> program, setting up necessary procedures governing <br /> applications by public and nonprofit groups under the <br /> program; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said procedures established by the California Department <br /> of Aging require the applicant to certify by resolution <br /> the approval of applications prior to submission of said <br /> applications to the State; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the project(s) applied for under this program must be of <br /> a high priority and satisfy the most urgent need with <br /> priority on unmet senior center needs from rural, low <br /> income and racial or ethnic minority areas; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Approves the filing of an application for funding <br /> under the Senior Center Bond Act of 1984. <br /> <br />Section 2: Certifies that the senior center will be available <br /> for use by all senior citizens. <br /> <br />Section 3: Certifies that the City of Pleasanton has or will <br /> have sufficient funds or other resources to operate and <br /> maintain the senior center funded under this program. <br /> <br />Section 4: Certifies that the City of Pleasanton has or will <br /> have available prior to commencement of any work on the <br /> project(s), matching money from a nonfederal or nonstate <br /> source. <br /> <br /> <br />
