CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 85-387 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PLAN FOR THE ALIGNMENT OF THE <br /> INTERSECTION OF FIRST STREET/SUNOL BOULEVARD/BERNAL <br /> AVENUE/MAIN STREET <br /> <br />WHEREAS, as part of the Railroad Consolidation Project, a <br /> realignment of Main Street at Bernal Avenue and the <br /> installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of <br /> First Street/Sunol Boulevard and new Bernal Avenue is <br /> necessary; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the firm of TJKM, Inc. has been hired by the City to <br /> design the signal, however, before this can be done the <br /> basic geometrics of the intersection(s) must be <br /> determined; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, TJKM, Inc. presented three alternatives which were <br /> reviewed by staff, the Chamber of Commerce and local <br /> merchants; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Acting Director of Public Works and Utilities <br /> presented a report (SR 85:364) describing in detail the <br /> alternatives; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Approves Alternate 1 for the alignment of the <br /> intersection(s) of First Street/Sunol Boulevard/New <br /> Bernal Avenue/Main Street. <br /> <br />Section 2: Directs staff to solicit proposals from interested <br /> Civil Engineers for preparation of detailed plans and <br /> specifications for Alternate 1. <br /> <br />Section 3: Authorizes staff to begin right-of-way negotiations, <br /> if necessary, with the affected property owners: school <br /> district, Southern Pacific Railroad Company and Mega <br /> Investment Company (Tymshare site). <br /> <br />Section 4: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br /> <br />
