MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS
Commissioner Blank suggested that the Commission agendize an item to discuss the
ability to put decks in the front yard without noticing, design review, or public hearing
Commissioner Pearce was more concerned about appearances in front of a house and
would prefer not to limit the discussion to decks.
At Commissioner Blank's request, Ms. Decker noted that it would be possible for staff to
craft language addressing the Commission's concerns. It would also be possible to
agendize this discussion at the earliest possible opportunity.
Commissioner Blank moved to agendize an item to discuss changes to the Code that
may encompass additional design review for structures or enlargements into front
yard areas.
Commissioner Narum seconded the motion.
ROLL CALL VOTE:
AYES: Commissioners Blank, Fox, Narum, Olson, and Pearce.
NOES: None.
ABSTAIN: None.
RECUSED: None.
ABSENT: None.
The motion passed.
In response to an inquiry by Commissioner Pearce regarding whether specific properties
may be discussed as an example of this proposed change, Ms. Decker replied that
examples would be appropriate.
PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES October 24, 2007 Page 7 of 40
