Malady, and the Martin <br />Luther King Tidewater Staging Area by the airport. <br />Ms. Wieskamp presented pictures of park projects, briefly discussed the District's outreach <br />efforts, and hoped the City would support their effort and possibly adopt a resolution of support <br />at their next meeting. <br />Mayor Hosterman and Councilmembers thanked Ms. Wieskamp for her presentation, the <br />District's work and noted the topic can be discussed at the end of the meeting under Matters <br />Initiated by the Council where the Council might want to discuss future adoption of a resolution. <br />11. Public Comment <br />Jerry Wager voiced complaint that the City has caused him to have 28 vacant RV spaces in the <br />Pleasanton Mobile Home Park which is costing him $25,000 per month. He said he currently <br />has only 4 tenants in a 32-space park, is paying sewer fees, and requested a hearing before the <br />Council with his attorney. <br />Mayor Hosterman confirmed with staff that the Council had met in Closed Session and <br />afterwards, had voted not to allow additional extensions. <br />Steve Brozosky, Pleasanton Unified School District Board, welcomed families back in school, <br />said enrollment is up, discussed budget cuts of $2 million and reported on their new student <br />information system, new science curriculum and an on-line component and their school board <br />election. <br />Fred Norman said Gary Meyer was the first Pleasanton resident killed in the Vietnam war and <br />asked the City to replace his plaque in Kottinger Park, said 1,475 American troops have been <br />killed in Iraq, said 23 were killed last month and 1 was killed today. <br />Kathy Dowding quoted words of Albert Einstein, asked people to speak out and join the <br />Pleasantonians for Peace, said they would hold a march on September 10, and read the names <br />of 8 soldiers who were recently killed. <br />Christine Steiner said for over 20 years, the Council has supported the Senior Support Program <br />of the Tri-Valley, discussed their goals and noted their staff is stretched to the limits. She said <br />their Board is holding their first fundraiser, she encouraged everyone to support their agency <br />and attend and distributed flyers on the event. <br />Kay Ayala discussed the two issues on the ballot; Measure PP and Measure OO, voiced <br />concern over the Mayor's Report's discussion and the policy about the discussion of measures <br />during an election, and asked that if there is discussion regarding not counting workforce <br />housing toward the housing cap, that this be made known to the public. <br />Councilmember Sullivan reminded everyone about the protocols under Meeting Open to the <br />Public. <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS AND OTHER MATTERS <br />12. Consider amending the Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Pleasanton <br />and the Pleasanton Police Officers Association for the term June 1, 2008 to May 31, 2011 <br />Assistant City Manager Julie Yuan Miu gave the staff report, said issues included costs of health <br />care and medical benefits, the need to balance proving competitive wages for recruitment and <br />City Council Minutes 2 September 2, 2008 <br />
