Councilmember Sullivan reported that he opposed the original Centex plan around 1999
because of visibility and grading, but this is a vast improvement. He said these improvements
are similar to the Berloger's plan modifications and is consistent. The grading makes this a
better fit than the original site. Adopting some of the Green Building Guidelines is also a helpful
and progressive move that all developers in Pleasanton could be doing.
Councilmember McGovern noted a voting discrepancy on page 13 of 13. Ms. Decker agreed to
follow-up and correct the appropriate document. Councilmember McGovern reiterated her
request for the new plan to fit within the Vineyard Corridor Specific Plan, look at the grading and
include native landscaping.
Motion: It was m/s by Sullivan/Cook-Kallio to introduce and waive first reading of Ordinance
No. 1982 approving PUD-05-02M application for a major modification to an approved PUD
development plan to replace the approved production home designs with design guidelines at
the property located at 1944 Vineyard Avenue, in the Vineyard Avenue Corridor Specific Plan
Area. Vice Mayor Thorne agreed it
was important and suggested agendizing a resolution on the matter. The Council agreed in
joining the other cities in adopting a resolution making it clear that raiding city coffers should not
be used to balance the State budget.
Councilmember Cook-Kallio reported she has contacted assembly members and state senators
that represent the city and received answers of agreement back. They could use the support
that a resolution might offer. Vice Mayor Thorne suggested any communication that could be
documented would be helpful.
MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL -None
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:26 p.m.
Respe ully ubmitted,
~L ~~
Kar Diaz
City Clerk
City Council Minutes 13 August 19, 2008
