MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION AGREEMENT <br /> FOR CASTLEWOOD SANITARY SEWERS <br /> (County Service Area R-1967-1) <br /> <br /> THIS AGREEMENT is made and entered into as of this day of <br /> <br /> , 1985, by and between the CITY OF PLEASANTON hereinafter <br /> <br />"CITY", and THE COUNTY OF ALAMEDA (County Service Area ~-1967-1) hereinafter <br /> <br />"COUNTY". <br /> <br /> WITNESSETH: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, COUNTY has formed the County Service Area R-1967-1 (Castle- <br /> <br />wood), hereinafter called "CSA," to provide, among other services, sewerage <br /> <br />services; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, CITY has agreed to provide sewer treatment and effluent <br /> <br />export services for the CSA, and, in order to utilize said services, the COUNTY <br />has proposed to construct a new gravity sewer, force main and pump station, as <br />shown on the Improvement Plans dated February 1985 by Lowry and Associates <br /> <br />(the "New Facilities") to connect to the existing old sanitary sewer collection <br />system to the West Pleasanton Interceptor Sewer operated by the CITY, said New <br />Facilities to be constructed with Clean Water Act grant funds and to be subject <br />to State-mandated maintenance requirements; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Castlewood Country Club presently maintains the existing <br /> <br />old sanitary sewer collection facilities, consisting of approximately five (5) <br />miles of old gravity sewer mains, the Old Facilities which are experiencing <br />high levels of extraneous flows (inflow and infiltration), and of a sewage <br />treatment facility which will be abandoned upon completion and operation of the <br />New Facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, CITY and COUNTY desires to minimiz~ extraneous flows, and <br /> <br />COUNTY, with assistance from CITY, plans to embark on a long-term program to <br /> <br />upgrade the old facilities; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, COUNTY desires CITY to maintain the Old Facilities and <br /> <br />the New Facilities once the New Facilities are operational, and CITY has both <br />the facilities and staff to test, operate, and maintain such sanitary sewer <br />systems; and <br /> <br /> <br />
