Pacific Gas and Electric Compan,v Revised Cal. P.U.C. Sheet No. 9357-G
San Francisco, California Cancellag Revised Cal. P.U.C. Sheet No. ~I;J3-G

RULE No. 2
DESCRGrfiON OF SE~.VICE

A, ~eneral

I. The natural gas supplied by this utility is obtained from various oil and gas fields in California and from out of
state, It may consist of any combustible gas or gases so produced, altered only by removal of any condensible constituents
or of injurious impurities and by the addition of a warning odorant. The heating value of natural gas as supplied by
this utility ,will vary from time to time and from place to place depending upon the sources being drawn upon, and at
times of insufficient supply of straight natural gas some propane gas may be supplied or mixed with the natural
The normal range of heat content is from 750 to 1150 Btu per cubic foot of gas at 14,73 psia and 60° F (dry basis).

2. Delivery Pressure

a. Standard Delivery Pressure
Gas wtll normally be delivered at a pressure of 7 inches of water column and will be In conforms.ace with
the standards specified by General Order No. 58-A for standard delt~'ery pressure,

b. Higher than Standard Delivery Pressure
Upon request of the customer and at the option of the utility, gas will be delivered at a pressure higher
than standard delix-ery pressure ~'here such higher pressure is available from existing facilities. The utility,
however, retains the right to decrease at any time the higher delivery pressure to a delivery pressure not less
than the standard delivery pressure,

]. The utility will inspect and adjust as necessary its customers' gas appliances in order to assure satisfactory
pilot and/or burner flame characteristics for safe and proper operation whenever a changed gas supply is not inter-
changeable with the previous gas supply.

B. Determination of Therms to Be Billed

The actual average heating value for the IZltu area involved (expressed in Btu per cubic font) for each fnur week
period ending on a Tuesday (or on the folios-lag day if Tuesday is a ho]lday) shall apply to all meter readings from
the following Saturday through Friday. For collection areas the reported average heating value shall apply. However,
such value for any account shall not change more often th.-n once a month or on a date other than the regular meter
reading for that account. The average heating value is converted to a thefro multiplier for use in determining a billing
factor, This therm multiplier fcr meters rcgisteri~g in units of 10O cubic feet (CA:f) shall be determined by dividing
the average Btu per cubic foot by 1000. The corresponding thefro multiplier for meters registering in units nf 1000 cubic
feet (Mcf) shall be determined by dividing the average Btu per cubic foot by 10O.

1. Genera[ Service Accounts Supplied st Standard Delivery Prmur,
Where gas is metered at the standard delivery pressure to general service accounts, a billing factor will be used.
This billing factor will be the product of the thefro multiplier and appropriate value from the following table, which
adjusts for standard delivery pressure and altitude:

Elevation Above
Mean Sea Lzvtl
Group (F~t) Value
A 0 - 999 1.000
B 1,000 - 1.999 .965
C 2,000 - 2,999 .932
D 3,000 - 3,999 .900
E 4,000 · 4,999 .86S
r 5.000 - [5,999

The number of therms to be billed will be determined by multiplying the difference in meter readings by the billing factor.

(Conttnuod)

Advice Letter No. 68~-G Issued by Date Filed December 18, 1974
Decision No. J.
