ATTACHMENT 2
CITY OF DUBLIN "celebrating 25 Years Of Cityhood 1982-2007"
100 Civic Plaza, Dublin, California 94568 Website: http://www.ci.dublin.ca.us
July 23, 2008
Mr. Rob Wilson
Public Works Director
City of Pleasanton
200 Old Bernal Avenue, Pleasanton, CA 94566
RE: Request for Approval of Design Funds - I-580/Fallon Road Interchange Project
Dear Rob:
This letter summarizes the City of Dublin's request for approval of design funds for the 1-
580/Fallon Road Interchange Improvement Project.
In June 2003, the Cities of Pleasanton and Dublin entered into a reimbursement agreement
for final design and construction of the I-580/Fallon Road Interchange Improvements. At that
time, Pleasanton agreed to contribute $202,871 towards final design. Since then, Caltrans
required additional interchange improvements which necessitated furtherdesign work.
Dublin amended its contract with the designer to complete the plans and in March 2008,
Dublin advertised the project. At that time Pleasanton was responsible for 18.2% of
construction cost based on the final cost estimates. The bids were opened in April 2008
and the contract awarded in May 2008. Accounting of the percentage share based on the
unit costs submitted by the contractor showed the percentage share due Pleasanton dropped
to 15.58%.
With regards to design costs associated with Pleasanton-related improvements, it was
agreed to use the same percentage (15.58%) to determine Pleasanton's fair share of the
additional design costs incurred by Dublin to complete the plans. The City of Pleasanton's
share of addtional design cost is calculated at $120,291. We therefore request approval of
these funds for project design.
Also this letter memorializes Pleasanton's share of construction and construction
management costs based on the 15.58°~ Pleasanton share of total construction cost. Based
on this percentage share, Pleasanton is expected to contribute an estimated $252,001
towards construction management and $1,720,000 towards Construction. Feel free to call
me at (925) 833-8830 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
~/ Melissa Morton L~~
Public Works Director
G:1CIP\I-580 Falbn RdlPleasant°n-Llvemare\RequestforApproval ~ Funda 7-18-08-doc
Area Code (925) Ciry Manager 833-6850 City Council 833-6650 • Personnel 833-8805 Economic Development 833-8850
Finance 833-6840 Public Works/Engineering 833-8630 Parks & Community Services 833-8845 Police 833-8670
Plannina/Code Enforcement 833-8610 Building InsDectlon 833-8820 Fire Prevention Bureau 833-6606
Printed on Recycled Paper
