CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br /> <br /> ALAMEDA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 86-536 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION OPENING THE PROCESS FOR APPOINTMENT AS <br /> COUNCILMEMBER AND ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS UNTIL <br /> NOVEMBER 25, 1986 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, due to the election of Kenneth R. Mercer as Mayor of <br /> Pleasanton, a vacancy has occurred on the City Council; <br /> and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Council vacancy can be filled by either appointment <br /> or calling a special election; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of all aspects, it is the <br /> consensus of Council that the vacancy shall be filled by <br /> appointment until the next regularly scheduled election; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PLEASANTON <br />RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1: Council hereby opens the process for appointment of a <br /> Councilmember. Applications shall be accepted until <br /> 5:00 p.m. on November 25, 1986. After interviews are <br /> held, Council shall appoint a candidate to fill the <br /> unexpired two year term of Kenneth R. Mercer. <br /> <br />Section 2: If a suitable candidate cannot be selected, then a <br /> special election shall be held on March 3, 1987. <br /> <br />Section 3: This resolution shall become effective immediately <br /> upon its passage and adoption. <br /> <br />THIS RESOLUTION ADOPTED NOVEMBER 18, 1986 BY THE FOLLOWING VOTE: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Butler, Mohr and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: Councilmember Brandes <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> KEnNEtH R.
