respect to any blasting or the storage or handling'of explosives <br /> in the vicinity of the Railroads' tracks, property or operations, <br /> City at its own expense, shall take all measures and precautions <br /> necessary to guard and protect the Railroads' facilities <br /> against danger of damage, destruction or interference. <br /> <br /> (k) The City will advise its contractors that (as to <br /> <br />the Southern Pacific) they will conform to the requirements <br />of Exhibit E, pp. 1-7, attached hereto and made a part hereof. <br />Section 10. The City agrees to obtain the Railroads' approval <br />of all sketches and calculations of any falsework to be used over <br />or adjacent to the Railroads' tracks. If such falsework will <br />impair the side or overhead clearance, the City will make an <br />amended application to the Public Utilities Commission to obtain <br />permission for such impairment during the period of construction <br />of the underpass. <br /> <br /> Section 11. That, except as hereinafter provided, all work <br /> <br />to be done hereunder by the City in the construction or maintenance <br />of the underpass may be done pursuant to a contract or contracts <br />awarded by the City to a contractor or contractors, who shall be <br />subject to the approval of Railroads as to his, its or their <br />responsibility and ability to perform the work over and under the <br />track, and on the right of way of the Railroads. The contractor <br />shall be deemed to be an agent of the City in performing its <br />obligations hereunder. All such contracts shall provide: <br /> <br /> (a) That all work performed thereunder within the <br /> <br /> limits of the right of way shall be done to the satisfaction <br /> <br /> 11 <br /> <br /> <br />
